ENVIROMENTAL PROJECT IN COOPERATION || WITH THE MISEREOR FOUNDATION FROM GERMANY

Last year we launched a question to the Communal Action Boards from Bitaco: ¿Which are the topics that worry the most to the people from Bitaco? And the answer was unanimous: water, waste and the environmental preservation. Second question: ¿Should we sum up all of our efforts and take care of the previos problems? Without a doubt: summing all of our efforts we will make the change.

So we started the construction of a pilot project to start working on these priorities: water with its two components: drinkable water and waste water, including its springs in the forest; solid waste: organic, recyclables, garbage; and the most important: the community, the unity of the people that makes it possible and lasting good actions for a common benefit.

We presented this project in Germany to receive co-financing resources. After 6 months of reviews and studies, we obtained the YES from a Catholic church organization in Germany called MISEREOR, who we are very grateful for this initial support.

This project is know as ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT OF THE TERRITORY FOR A HEALTHY LIFE IN FAMILY AND COMMUNITY, RURAL BITACO, LA CUMBRE.

With the development in three years we will achieve important steps so that 340 families (more than half of the population) have good water and waste management; so our rural area can be greener and there will be more trees producing water; so we can build a future of friendly practices all around us; and that the six Communal Action Boards recently appointed, train and empower themselves as leaders of their villages. Our councillors, municipal and environmental authorities are joining, and that have given their support for this project. And all of the people from Bitaco are welcomed.

After these three years there will be new steps. Because together we can keep making our dreams reality, in this joint commitment for a sustainable territory.
